Kenwood USA Corporation, Communications Sector, introduces the TK-5220/5320 P25 UHF/VHF portables that comply with the IP67 immersion specification for submergibility and extreme wet operating conditions. The IP67 standard requires that the radio be able to operate after immersion for 30 minutes in 1 meter (approximately 3 1/3 feet) of water.
The handhelds are designed for use by public safety agencies, government and industrial users on harbor/beach patrols or in areas where hurricane and other intense wet weather conditions prevail. The radios are also suitable for fire fighting, SAR and HAZMAT operations. The TK-5220/5330 is priced at the mid-tier, so it will meet most agency budget requirements. These portables are also compliant with 11 MILSPEC environmental specifications including “driven rain” and meet IP54/55 standards for water and dust resistance.
TK-5220/5320 comes standard with a 14 character alphanumeric display and 6 control keys with an option for a full keypad on the TK-5320.
